Juakali Workforce builds online and offline platforms where workers in Kenya’s informal sector, particularly the youth, can get visibility, credibility and therefore social and economic mobility. Through the online platform, workers in the informal sector who have skills in cleaning, masonry, carpentry, electricals, plumbing and welding are provided with market access to their customers. The online platform uses existing technologies to connect two groups of people- skilled youth and the growing population in urban and peri-urban areas in an innovative way. These connections are allowed to happen in a trusted space, our online platform, where both groups can mutually benefit. These interactions will lead to the creation of a reputable database of workers whose work is easy to track. The youth on the other hand will be able to build a reference system, which will help them be more credible and find more opportunities.
